VA Home Loans Had Record Year

In our experience, the VA Home Loan Program is one of the most powerful options available for those who qualify. Based on the record numbers last year, more people than ever before were eligible to use this benefit. “Accomplishing what our employees and lenders have achieved in 2020 would’ve been unimaginable years ago, let alone when this program was first created more than 75 years ago,” said VA Secretary Robert Wilkie. “VA has now backed more than 25 million home loans since the program’s inception and this record is indicative of the level of support we provide Veterans in helping them attain the American dream.” As VA Home Loan specialists, our team at 1st United Mortgage we have been proud to assist hundreds of clients with this.

VA Home Loans and Credit Scores

When it comes to securing a mortgage, people may wonder if their credit is good enough for a home loan. That’s because the credit score is an important factor in both getting a loan and in determining the rate of the loan. The great news is that the VA Home Loan program is more flexible than traditional loan programs and can even help veterans with less than perfect credit. The VA loan is backed by the VA, but it is issued by individual lenders. Thus, lenders may have their own unique requirements. For example, some lenders may still require a minimum credit score of 620, while we can issue VA loans with credit scores of 580.
